Our new photovoltaic installation on our office roof has gone live. The panels are set on a south facing roof pitch, which has the advantage of being barely visible from the adjoining streets. When the sun appears we will have an abundance of generating capacity over our heads.

The solar PV installation is yet another direct implementation of our policy of sustainable environmental design as a key part of our overall practice philosophy. It is also a further investment in our practice and our building as a manifestation of how we work.

Leveret House receives planning permission

Talks have concluded with the building's current occupants - a large number of brown long eared and soprano pipistrelle bats - who have been offered alternative accommodation in the roof of the proposed garage next to the house.

Our proposal will refurbish the former Royal Oak Garage, creating an open plan market hall. The outdoor space will become an external market place linking to a proposed public park.

The former Royal Oak Garage on the High Street in Nailsea was part of a large glass manufacturing complex between 1788 and 1874, and is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Clevedon Pier Visitor Centre proceeds to Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund Bid

The Visitor Centre on the Grade I listed Clevedon Pier has made it through to stage 2 of the Heritage Lottery Fund bidding process. Our scheme received planning permission and listed building consent in April 2011 and was fully supported by English Heritage who said, "the design of the proposed new structure […] appears well considered, and we would fully support the contemporary design of this".

Building Information Modelling goes live

O'Leary Goss Architects are continuing to develop their expertise in Building Information Modelling. BIM is the latest approach to computer aided design and uses a 3D, dynamic, computer model to coordinate the design team's work, increase productivity and reduce many of the uncertainties and coordination problems found during the design and construction phases.

After a dry run in-house the Clevedon Pier Visitor Centre will be the first live project to adopt this approach to building design and construction

Artist's Studio, Ashley Road, Bristol

A new studio and exhibition space for a local artist. The building has been designed with a curved standing seam zinc roof over existing stone walls. Glulam beams span the building, creating an open plan interior, naturally lit by a large north facing roof window.

Two 50m deep geothermal boreholes will be drilled under the site, providing low carbon heating to the studio.
